Duration of Internship

15 Days (15th June 2021 to 30th June 2021)

How did you apply?

The application process was straightforward. By filling out the Google form released accordingly by the organization a few weeks before the internship period.

Main Tasks

The main tasks were writing reports and giving presentations.

The interns were assigned to conduct broad research on human rights on a national and international scale in relation to various classes of society, such as women, migrant workers, and children. The interns were also asked to highlight instances of human rights violations in their communities.

This internship gave me an overview of how human rights work and how we can achieve a society where human rights are respected!!

Work Environment

The work environment at AIHRA was pretty much comfortable. As this was an online internship one can work according to their schedule and timings but for the particular task, a time period was given for submission.

Good Things

  • The main focus was on e-learning, which was excellent. We were given study materials with each task. Because it was an online internship, one could learn while staying at home.
  • The coordinator was extremely helpful and approachable. She took a personal interest in answering each intern’s questions.
  • One can also become a human rights activist and join an organization that interests them.

Bad Things

Nothing Bad as such about this internship.

My Opinion

  • As a first-year law student, you can work as an intern for an NGO. In the first year, an NGO is usually preferred. Interning here would be a fantastic opportunity.
  • Advocate Sania Dua mam, the woman wing president of AIHRA, is a very friendly coordinator who will make the internship easier.
  • Working here is stress-free. On the very last day, we had a virtual meeting with her, during which she explained the workings of AIHRA, how to become a human rights activist, and various legal knowledge.
