About the Job
PayPay India is hiring a Corporate Legal Counsel to provide legal support and guidance for business operations while ensuring compliant, secure, and efficient functioning of the organisation. The role involves handling contracts, compliance management, governance frameworks, regulatory matters, and legal risk mitigation.
The selected candidate will work closely with business teams and act as a key legal gatekeeper for the organisation.

Candidates should possess:
- LL.B. degree (mandatory)
- LL.M. degree (preferred but not mandatory)
- Company Secretary (CS) qualification (added advantage)
Experience Required
- 3–4 years of relevant experience
- Experience in corporate or commercial law
- Exposure to compliance and regulatory frameworks
- Experience in contract negotiation
- Experience handling corporate governance matters
Skills Required
Technical Skills
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills
- Understanding of corporate and commercial laws
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements
- Ability to interpret statutes and regulations

Preferred Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should:
- Have hands-on experience in contract drafting and review
- Be capable of independently managing routine legal matters
- Understand compliance frameworks
- Have experience working in startups, fintech companies, corporates, or law firms
- Be comfortable working in a dynamic and evolving environment
- Be proactive and capable of building processes from scratch
- Be comfortable operating without a large legal team
Responsibilities
Contract Management
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements including vendor agreements, partnership agreements, NDAs, and service agreements
- Identify legal risks and provide mitigation strategies
- Maintain contract repositories and ensure compliance with agreed terms
- Support business teams during contract discussions
Policy and Governance
- Draft, review, and update internal policies including HR policies, Privacy Policy, compliance policies, and code of conduct
- Ensure e-learning compliance
- Ensure alignment with applicable laws and regulations
- Develop SOPs for legal and compliance processes
Compliance Management
- Monitor regulatory requirements applicable to the company
- Ensure timely filings, registrations, and statutory compliances
- Conduct internal compliance reviews
Incident and Risk Support
- Draft incident reports and regulatory communications
- Assist in handling legal notices and disputes
- Conduct preliminary legal assessments of business risks, RCM, and BCP
- Maintain documentation for audits and regulatory inspections
Information Security Management
- Drive information security awareness across teams
- Ensure policies are regularly reviewed and updated
- Monitor completion of mandatory e-learning modules
- Track developments in India’s DPDP law and ensure timely compliance actions
