About the Job

Wolters Kluwer is hiring a Consultant – Legal Bill Analysis (LBA) to work within its Legal Bill Analysis Center of Excellence (LBACOE).

The role involves auditing electronically submitted legal fee and expense invoices in accordance with client billing guidelines and applicable legal standards, with a strong focus on US laws and e-billing systems.

Eligibility

Education

  • Minimum: Paralegal Certification or equivalent work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a legal-related discipline preferred
  • Advanced degree is a plus

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in a legal services or legal bill auditing environment
  • Prior legal bill review experience is mandatory
  • Strong understanding of US federal and/or state rules of civil procedure
  • Experience in one or more practice areas such as:
    • Insurance
    • Civil Litigation
    • Intellectual Property
    • Corporate Law
    • Banking

Required Competencies

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and independent decision-making
  • High attention to detail with strong proofreading and documentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed, global environment
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently after training

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to learn and work with electronic legal billing and auditing software

Responsibilities

The Consultant – LBA will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing and auditing legal fee and expense invoices submitted electronically
  • Ensuring compliance with legal billing guidelines
  • Verifying accuracy of UTBMS task, activity, and expense codes
  • Making and documenting justified invoice line-item adjustments
  • Communicating with Legal Invoice Analysts, QA Analysts, and management
  • Supporting quality assurance reviews and reconsideration requests
  • Conducting audit and data analysis to support performance metrics
  • Assisting in developing operational tools, SOPs, and training materials
  • Mentoring and training junior Legal Invoice Analysts
  • Liaising with AI and Decision Science teams to improve billing audit systems
  • Maintaining high standards of accuracy, judgment, and discretion
