About the Competition

The 7th Edition of the Trial Advocacy Competition focuses on Criminal Law and mirrors the procedures of Indian Criminal Trial Courts. Participants will engage in witness briefings, chief/cross-examinations, and final arguments under procedural frameworks including the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA).

Eligibility

  • Open to all law colleges, law schools, and university law departments in India recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI).
  • Students pursuing 3-year LL.B. or 5-year integrated LL.B. programs are eligible.
  • Multiple teams per institution are allowed with official permission.

Team Composition

Each team shall comprise a maximum of 3 Members:

  • 2 Speakers
  • 1 Researcher

Competition Structure & Mode

  • Mode: Hybrid
  • Procedural Test (Online Viva-Voce): 10 September 2026 (For Researchers; top 15 qualifying teams advance to the Preliminary Rounds).
  • Inaugural Session, Preliminary Rounds & Semi-Finals (Virtual): 18–20 September 2026 via Zoom/G Meet.
  • Final Round & Valedictory Session (Offline): 10 October 2026 at V. R. Krishna Iyer Hall, KLA Campus, Thiruvananthapuram.

Awards & Prizes

  • Winner: Merit Certificate + Cash Prize of ₹15,000
  • Runners-Up: Merit Certificate + Cash Prize of ₹10,000
  • E-Certificates of Participation: Awarded to all participants.

  • Deadline for Clarifications: 8 September 2026
  • Allotment of Team Codes: 9 September 2026
  • Procedural Test (Online): 10 September 2026
  • Deadline for Selected Teams’ Additional Fee Payment: 13 September 2026
  • Inaugural Session & Lotting: 18 September 2026
  • Preliminary & Semi-Final Rounds (Virtual): 19–20 September 2026
  • Final Round (Offline) & Valedictory Session: 10 October 2026

  • Additional Fee for Qualified Teams: ₹2,600 (Payable after qualifying the Procedural Test).
