About The Competition
The Literary Committee of ABVSLS proudly presents “SAMVAD: 1st Atal Bihari Vajpayee State Debate Competition, 2026”, a prestigious platform dedicated to critical inquiry, reasoned argumentation, and intellectual exchange.
The competition seeks to encourage informed debate on contemporary legal, constitutional, public policy, and socio-political issues while promoting democratic values through dialogue. Participants will have the opportunity to demonstrate their research, analytical ability, persuasive advocacy, and public speaking skills before a distinguished panel of academicians and legal professionals.
The preliminary round and semi-final rounds will be conducted online, while the final round will be held offline at the Senanayak Tatyatope Senate Hall, CSJMU campus.

The exact debate motion will be communicated to registered participants through email before the competition.
Eligibility
The competition is open to students enrolled in any recognised Undergraduate or Postgraduate programme from recognised institutions across the state of UP. Participation is individual, and every participant must possess a valid student identity card.
Debate Format
The competition will follow the Conventional Debate Format. Every participant must be prepared to speak both For and Against the motion. The side shall be allotted through a random draw immediately before the debate.
Languages permitted are English, Hindi, or Bilingual (English and Hindi).
The preliminary round and semi-final shall be conducted online, whereas the final rounds shall take place offline at the University campus.
Registration
There is no registration or participation fee.
Registration will be accepted strictly on a first-come, first-served basis.
Limited seats available. The forms shall remain open only till all the seats are filled.
