The School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Delhi NCR Campus, commenced its journey in 2019 and offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral programmes in accordance with the guidelines of the Bar Council of India and the University Grants Commission. The School of Law offers a practice-oriented curriculum that integrates experiential learning through internships, legal aid, moot courts, trial advocacy, and client counselling, preparing students to become competent legal professionals.

About the Competition

The 2nd Annual Trial Advocacy Competition, 2026 is an academic initiative aimed at cultivating and enhancing the trial advocacy skills of law students through a simulated criminal trial. Designed to replicate the dynamics of real courtroom proceedings, the Competition provides participants with practical exposure to criminal litigation, evidentiary procedures, courtroom advocacy, and strategic argumentation. By integrating experiential learning with legal education, it seeks to strengthen participants’ analytical reasoning, oral advocacy, and procedural understanding while fostering professionalism, precision, ethical responsibility, and the confidence essential for future legal practitioners. The Competition serves as a platform for aspiring advocates to translate theoretical knowledge into practical courtroom experience in a challenging and intellectually engaging environment.

Theme

The Competition shall revolve around a complex and contemporary criminal law dispute, challenging participants to navigate intricate questions of law, fact, procedure, and evidence through a simulated trial.

Designed to replicate the dynamics of real courtroom proceedings, the Competition will require participants to demonstrate exceptional advocacy, legal reasoning, strategic thinking, and procedural acumen while upholding the highest standards of ethics and professionalism expected of future legal practitioners.

Eligibility

The Competition is open to bona fide students pursuing a three-year or five-year LL.B. degree programme at any law school, college, or university. Participants must be duly enrolled in their respective institutions at the time of registration.

Teams shall participate in accordance with the Rules of the Competition and fulfil all registration requirements prescribed by the Organising Committee.

Registration Fee

  • Online Preliminary Rounds: ₹2,500 per team.
  • Advance Advocacy Rounds (Without Accommodation): ₹3,500 per team.
  • Advance Advocacy Rounds (With Accommodation): ₹6,000 per team.

Registration shall be deemed complete only upon receipt of the applicable registration fee and confirmation thereof by the Organising Committee.

Prizes

  • Winner: ₹40,000 along with a Winner’s Trophy and Certificates.
  • Runner-Up: ₹20,000 along with a Runner-Up Trophy and Certificates.
  • Best Student Counsel: ₹5,000 along with a Trophy and Certificate.
  • Best Written Arguments: ₹5,000 along with a Trophy and Certificate.

Registration Process

  • Registration shall be undertaken on a team basis, and only one designated team member shall complete the registration on behalf of the entire team.
  • Teams must complete the online registration form and pay the prescribed registration fee.
  • Registration shall be deemed complete only upon receipt of the applicable registration fee and confirmation by the Organising Committee.
  • Upon completion of the Online Preliminary Rounds, shortlisted teams shall qualify for the Advance Advocacy Rounds and shall be required to complete the second-stage registration by paying the applicable fee, with or without accommodation, as prescribed by the Organising Committee.
