About the IDIA

IDIA identifies underprivileged students with an aptitude for law and trains them for law entrance exams over a 2-3-year period. In 8 years, more than 80 students trained by IDIA have gained admission to leading law schools. Once selected to the top law schools, IDIA arranges for sponsorships/scholarships and mentorship schemes to help these students blossom to their fullest potential. IDIA enables access to legal education, fosters diversity at leading law schools, and enriches the very process of legal education.

About the Workshop

The Assam Chapter of IDIA (Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access to Legal Education) is organizing a Workshop on CV Building and Internships, with a special focus on Corporate Law in India, on February 13, 2022.

The Assam Chapter, through this Workshop, aims to bridge the gap between internships and accessibility. A Curriculum Vitae, or CV, is a valuable tool and a gateway to internships. It is considered a tool for marketing yourself and is precisely more than just a document: it outlines your background, skills, and education so that a potential employer can readily see how your specific experiences may add to the team’s overall success.

Internships, as we all know, are crucial for learning many aspects of law, both conceptually and practically. An internship allows us to discover our areas of interest, which helps us better comprehend a topic and increases our chances of landing a prestigious dream job. However, how do we decide which internships to pursue? To assist us in making a better-informed decision, we are organising a Workshop that will greatly assist us, career-wise.

Objective

The principal objective of the webinar is for the students to better understand the intricacies of CV building and internships. This Workshop attempts to bridge the gap between internships and accessibility.

Resource Person for the Workshop

The Resource Person for the Workshop is Ms. Priyanka Hazarika, an IDIA scholar who is presently working as an Associate in DMD Advocates, New Delhi, a leading full-service law firm in India. Before joining DMD Advocates, she worked as an Associate in AZB & Partners. She is a B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) graduate from National Law University, Delhi, and has interned in prestigious law firms including Khaitan & Co., L&L Partners, J. Sagar Associates.
