About the National Seminar on New Criminal Laws: Issues and Trends

The School of Law at Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences is proud to host a National Seminar titled ‘New Criminal Laws:Issues & Trends’. This seminar offers a unique opportunity for legal professionals, academicians, and policymakers to dissect the nuances of these transformative Acts.

Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Indian Penal Code)

Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (Code of Criminal Procedure)

  • Key Changes to Investigation Procedures
  • Key Changes to Bail Provisions
  • Impact on Accused Persons

Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (Indian Evidence Act)

  • Key Changes to Admissibility of Electronic Evidence
  • Key Changes to Witness Examination
  • Impact on Judicial Discretion

Call for Papers

They invite submissions of abstracts from legal scholars, practitioners, researchers, and students on the aforementioned themes. Share your insights, research findings, and perspectives to enrich the discourse on evolving criminal laws in India.

All the above themes are not exhaustive. The scholars are free to choose any other topic that falls within the domain of the main theme. Interdisciplinary approaches to new criminal laws and any other topic of relevance are welcome

Submission guidelines 

The abstract submission shall be strictly in MS Word format only. Submissions made in any other format shall not be considered. The MS Word file must be named in the manner which is as follows:

Name of the Author and Co-author (if any) followed by title of the work.  (eg: Author, co-author- title). Co-authorship is limited to a maximum of two authors.

The abstract shall not exceed more than 250-300 words including keywords (maximum 5). Author(s) name, designation, and their affiliations are not included.

Format: All submissions shall be in Times New Roman, font size 12, justified, and with 1.5 line spacing, paper size: A4 Sheet with a margin of 2.54 cm.

The abstract shall be accompanied by a cover page which must include the following details:

        1. Title of the Paper

        2. Name of the Author and Co-author (if any)

        3. Designation

        4. Affiliation

        5. Contact details of Author and Co-author (if any) (E-mail ID, Contact number, etc.,) 

Best paper under each theme and best student paper presentation shall be awarded with cash prize and a certificate of merit.

Authors whose abstracts are accepted shall submit full papers by 30-04-2024

Selected abstracts will be presented during the seminar, providing authors with an opportunity to engage with peers and experts in the field. Outstanding papers shall be considered for publication in an edited book with ISBN.

The Registration fees for presenting the paper are as follows:

  • Last day for early bird registration is 15-04 2024 
  • Last day for late registration is 20-04-2024
