About the Opportunity: Rakesh Aggarwal Memorial Debate Competition
The Rakesh Aggarwal Memorial Debate Competition is organised in the cherished memory of Late Shri Rakesh Aggarwal, Chairman and Founder of Ideal Institute of Management and Technology, whose vision and commitment to education continue to inspire the institution.
The Competition aims to promote critical thinking, effective communication, research, and appreciation of diverse perspectives through debate on contemporary issues of law and society. It seeks to nurture persuasive speakers, analytical thinkers, and proficient researchers, while carrying forward the educational values and legacy of Late Shri Rakesh Aggarwal.

Eligibility
- The Competition is open to all students enrolled in undergraduate or postgraduate programmes worldwide.
- Each team shall comprise two participants, with one participant speaking for and the other speaking against the motion.
- Participants are required to submit the online registration form along with the prescribed registration fee of ₹2,000/- per team by 16th September 2026.
Themes
“Public Safety Justifies Mass Facial Recognition Surveillance by the State.”
Participants shall debate the motion by presenting arguments for and against the proposition.
The debate shall follow the Lincoln-Douglas model, with certain modifications. Each participant shall be allotted a maximum of 5 minutes, comprising 4 minutes for constructive speech and 1 minute for rebuttal.
Participants may choose either English or Hindi as the medium of the debate. Once selected, the language cannot be changed during the Competition.
Judging Criteria
Participants will be evaluated on their Knowledge of the Subject Matter, Organisation & Delivery, Persuasive Impact, Rebuttal & Critical Engagement, Language, and Time Management.

- Attendee Fee: ₹500/- per attendee

Certificates of Appreciation and Participation will also be awarded to the participants in recognition of their participation and contribution to the Competition.

Registration Process
Participants are required to register for the Competition by completing the online registration form and paying the prescribed registration fee.

The registration fee is ₹2,000/- per team and must be paid through the prescribed online payment link.
Step 3: Attach the Payment Receipt
Participants must retain the confirmation of payment and attach the payment receipt with the online registration form.
Step 4: Register Before the Deadline
The last date for registration is 16th September 2026.
Participants should also ensure compliance with all Competition rules, including professional decorum, appropriate language, prescribed formal attire, and the prohibition on continuous reading from paper or electronic devices during the debate.
