Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU) was established by the Madhya Pradesh National Law University Act 24 of 2018. The University was unveiled by the noted legal luminaries, leaders, and educationists in 2018 with a vision to be the center of excellence in legal education and research by disseminating quality education and training; nurturing vibrant legal culture through judicious practices and ethically responsible pursuits. Vibrant legal culture is the sine qua non for a developing country like ours.

About the CCL

The Centre for Constitutional Law was established in the year 2020 and ever since then the Centre has been an active participant in the University’s ecosystem. The Centre for Constitutional Law is a student-run organization, which seeks to work towards sparking an interest in the legal fraternity about the crucial role of constitutional law.

 About the Panel Discussion

Basic structure doctrine is said to be the reason behind the survival of the Indian Constitution and hence constitute the building concepts of the Indian Constitution. Panel discussion will give academic insight into the national and international perspective of the phenomenal outcome of judicially creativity. It will help participants understand the origin and importance of checks and balances in rule of law and how the notion of basic structure restrained parliament from abusing its power of amendment and how this concept of preserving the constitutional identity is relevant in this dynamic world even after 50 years of its enunciation.

Thus, in order to provide in-depth information and understanding of the subject the Centre for Constitutional Law, DNLU is organizing this lecture to be delivered by our esteemed Panelists mentioned above.

Panelists

  • Prof. Yaniv Roznai, vice dean at the Harry Radzyner Law School and co-director at the Rubinstein Center for Constitutional Challenges at Reichman University.
  • Prof. Richard Albert is the William Stamps Farish Professor in Law, Professor of Government, and Director of Constitutional Studies at the University of Texas at Austin.
  • Dr. Seema Singh, Assistant professor at Faculty of Law, Delhi University.
