At Civis, they have developed a platform that enables citizens’ engagement, in our democracies, by creating a channel for constructive dialogue between citizens and the Government on draft laws and policies.

Through Civis, individuals in India can understand an upcoming law or policy and share their feedback on this law, this feedback goes straight to lawmakers. This crucial step of consultation allows for the participatory design of policies, increased trust, and dialogue.

About the Internship

Civis is hiring interns.

Civis organised India’s Inaugural Public Consultation Awards in March 2024. They are excited to continue our flagship event in the year 2025 too, aiming to recognize government champions who are pioneering public consultations in their departments, states, and ministries.

The awards are built on a rigorous methodology that includes data collection, analysis, and collation of public consultations over one financial year. Civis is looking for interns to assist the Governance team In collation and analysis. If you enjoy working with data and want to learn how to quantify qualitative processes, this might be just the opportunity for you!

Eligibility

• The applicant must be a final or penultimate year student of law or a final or penultimate year student of public policy/economics or similar programs.
• The applicant must be based in Mumbai, and able to join us at the office for a few hours every week.
• Data-driven: The applicant should have the ability, experience and enthusiasm to work with large volumes and diversity of data.
• Policy research: The applicant should be curious and enthusiastic about the workings of government and public policy.
• Policy and evidence-based writing: This position involves some articulation of the research and collation process.
• Communication: This position will require some remote work, and hence relies on communication across platforms.

Responsibilities

• Support the governance vertical with quantitative and qualitative research and analysis on the public consultation process of draft laws and policies.
• Codify and develop compilation documents based on the guidelines provided.
• Support the Governance team in research for building the documents required to brief the jury for the awards.

Stipend

A stipend of Rs. 5000/- a month will be provided to successful candidates.

Duration of Internship

This will be a month-long internship beginning on June 24, 2024

Mode of Internship

This will be a hybrid position. Civis is keen to bring on board a maximum of 2 interns for the role.
