A team from NMIMS Bengaluru secured the Runners-Up position at the 11th Shri N.J. Yasaswy Memorial National Moot Court Competition 2026, organised by the Moot Court Society of ICFAI Law School, IFHE, Hyderabad.

The national-level competition was conducted from September 4 to September 6, 2026. It witnessed participation from 80 teams representing law universities and institutions from across the country.
The NMIMS Bengaluru team delivered a strong performance during the Preliminary Rounds and finished among the top three teams at that stage. Their performance secured them a place in the Quarterfinals of the competition.
The team continued its run through the knockout stages and advanced from the Quarterfinals to the Semi-Finals. The Semi-Final rounds were adjudicated by a panel comprising former High Court judges.
Following its performance in the Semi-Finals, the team qualified for the Final Round and eventually concluded the competition as Runners-Up.

During the different stages of the moot court competition, the participants were required to address a wide range of legal questions involving constitutional law and reproductive rights.
The moot proposition also involved issues relating to assisted reproductive technology, commonly known as ART, as well as the legal framework governing surrogacy.
Other legal areas forming part of the competition included private international law, citizenship and the rights of the child. These subjects required participants to combine legal research with structured written and oral advocacy.
The competition provided the team with an opportunity to argue complex questions before experienced adjudicators while progressing through several competitive rounds at the national level.
The achievement marks a notable performance for the NMIMS Bengaluru students at a competition that attracted 80 participating teams from different parts of India.
