The Presidency School of Law (PSOL), under Presidency University, Bengaluru, proudly presents the Nationwide Online Case Analysis Competition 2025 organized by the Constitutional Law Committee (CLC).The Committee is committed to advancing legal scholarship and analytical excellence by providing a national platform for students to explore constitutional jurisprudence through case law interpretation and critical analysis.

Details of the Event

The competition — “Prism of Precedents” — invites law students from across India to analyze landmark judgments of the Supreme Court of India.

It aims to promote an in-depth understanding of judicial reasoning, constitutional interpretation, and evolving precedents that shape Indian democracy.

Participants will engage in a written case analysis based on selected constitutional themes, showcasing their research, articulation, and analytical prowess.

Levels of Competition

The competition will be conducted in a single round based on written submissions.

Entries will be evaluated by an expert panel of legal academicians and professionals on parameters such as originality, clarity, coherence, and legal reasoning.

Eligibility

The competition is open to all students currently enrolled in:

Three-year or Five-year LL.B. programs at recognized law schools/universities across India.

Participants may register individually or as a team of two members.

Theme

Participants are required to choose a case relevant to one of the following constitutional themes:

  1. Right to Privacy vis-à-vis Protected Communications
  2. The Constitutional Development of Personal Law-related Rights
  3. Freedom of Speech and Expression vis-à-vis Reasonable Restrictions
  4. Constitutional Morality and Public Morality
  5. Environmental Jurisprudence within the Constitutional Framework
  6. Constitutional Protection of the Rights of Indigenous Communities
  7. Constitutional Dimensions of Intellectual Property Rights
  8. Right to Health and Medical Accountability
  9. Constitutional Safeguards in Criminal Justice
  10. Constitutional Morality in Economic Regulation

Submission Categories

Participants must submit a case analysis report within 2,000–2,500 words (excluding footnotes).

All submissions must be original, unpublished, and prepared strictly as per the prescribed format.

  • Line Spacing: 1.5 (Main Text), Single (Footnotes)
  • Margin: 1 inch on all sides
  • Alignment: Justified
  • Citation Format: Bluebook 20th Edition

Selection Guidelines

  1. Submissions must be original and unpublished (Plagiarism beyond 15% will lead to disqualification).
  2. The case selected must relate to the chosen theme and be from the Supreme Court of India.
  3. The case must have current legal relevance and not be overruled or rendered obsolete.
  4. Evaluation will focus on depth of research, clarity, structure, analytical reasoning, and originality.

  • Each submission must include a cover page with:
    • Participant’s Name(s)
    • Institution Name
    • Contact Details
  • Submissions must be in PDF format and uploaded via the official registration link.
  • Only entries received before the submission deadline will be considered.

Important Dates

  • Registrations Open: August 21, 2025
  • Submission Deadline: October 12, 2025
  • Declaration of Results: November 4, 2025

Registration Fees

  • Individual Registration: ₹200
  • Team Registration (2 Members): ₹300
  • Maximum two authors per submission.
