About the Faculty of Law, Manipal University Jaipur

The School of Law at MUJ offers BA LLB (Hons), BBA LLB (Hons), LLB, LLM, and PhD programs, blending rigorous academic instruction with practical exposure through moots, debates, internships, and legal aid activities. Ranked 29th in the NIRF Law category in both 2023 and 2024, the School of Law is known for its moot court hall, research facilities, and a faculty comprising nationally recognised educators. About the PIL Drafting Competition

The Faculty of Law, Manipal University Jaipur, proudly announces the National Public Interest Litigation (PIL) Drafting Competition 2025, to be conducted in online mode. This competition aims to offer law students from across the country an opportunity to apply their legal knowledge and advocacy skills to addressing significant social issues.

The competition aims to nurture the next generation of socially conscious legal professionals by encouraging critical thinking, legal research, and practical application of constitutional and statutory principles. Participants will not only enhance their drafting skills but also develop a deeper understanding of how the law can be leveraged for the public good.

By participating in this competition, law students will assume the role of change-makers, utilising the power of the written word to amplify the voices of those who cannot speak for themselves and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s journey toward a more just and equitable society.

  • Legal Framework for Climate-Induced Displacement in India
  • Addressing Gender-Based Digital Violence on Social Media Platforms
  • Accountability in AI-Based Decision Making by Government Authorities
  • Protection of Sacred Tribal Forests from Mining and Industrial Expansion
  • Government Accountability for Infrastructure Collapse and Urban Planning Failures
  • Rehabilitation and Rights of Victims of Natural Disasters
  • Legal Measures to Tackle Food Security and Malnutrition
  • Combating Fake News and Misinformation on Social Media
  • Legal Accountability and Safety Standards in Public Transport and Civil Aviation

Eligibility

  • Open to students enrolled in the 3rd year and above of any integrated 5-year law programme or in 2nd year and above of 3-year LLB programme at any recognised university/college in India
  • Cross-team participation is NOT allowed
  • Individual participation or in a team of two allowed

Registration Fees

  • Individual Participation- Rs. 600
  • Team of 2- Rs. 1000

Prizes

  • Winner will be awarded a prize of Rs. 10,000 and a certificate of Excellence
  • 1st Runner up will be awarded a prize of Rs. 7,000 and a certificate of merit.
  • 2nd Runner up will be awarded a prize of Rs. 5,000 and a certificate of excellence.
  • All participants will be given an e-certificate of participation.

Important Dates

  • Last Date for Registration- 14th September 2025
  • Last Date for PIL Draft Submission (The form for uploading Final PIL submissions will be shared via the registered email addresses after the close of registrations.)- 3rd October, 2025
  • Oral Rounds- 10th October
  • Results Declaration- 10th October (Tentative)
