About Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission

The Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission (MSHRC) was established on 6 March 2001. The Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission (MSHRC) was set up on 15.01.2000, Vide Government Resolution No.HRC 1099/378/Pol No.14 Under Section 21(1) of the Protection of Human Rights Acts,1993. The MSHRC promotes respect for human rights. It uses education, information, and publicity to promote, protect and enforce human rights. Section 2(1) (d) of the Protection of Human Rights Act defines Human Rights as the rights relating to life, liberty, equality and dignity of the individual guaranteed by the Constitution or embodied in the International Covenants and enforceable by courts in India

About Savitribai Phule Pune University

Savitribai Phule Pune University, one of the premier universities in India, is positioned in the Northwestern part of Pune city. It occupies an area of about 411 acres. About the Competition

Dr. D.Y. Patil Law College, Pimpri, Pune is organising the National-Level Street Play Competition on Human Rights with the central theme “Human Rights in a Changing World: Navigating New Challenges and Embracing Shared Responsibilities.” The competition aims to provide a national platform for students to express their perspectives on contemporary human rights issues through the impactful medium of street theatre.

The event encourages participants to address significant concerns such as freedom of expression, gender equality, socio-economic and cultural rights, democratic values, constitutional safeguards, the role of institutions, and the challenges posed by emerging technologies. By engaging with these sub-themes, students will have the opportunity to combine creativity with critical thinking, thereby fostering awareness and dialogue on the protection and promotion of human rights.

Street theatre, with its ability to directly engage with society, serves as a powerful tool for highlighting injustices, promoting constitutional values, and inspiring collective responsibility. This competition is designed not only to showcase talent but also to encourage students to contribute meaningfully towards building a more just, inclusive, and equitable society.

Registration Guidelines

  • Interested participants are required to fill out the Registration Form within the stipulated time.
  • The last date to submit the registration form is 15th September 2025. No registrations will be accepted after the deadline under any circumstances.
  • Only the first 30 entries will be considered for participation.
  • Each team may consist of a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 8 members.
  • All participants must ensure that the details provided in the registration form are accurate and complete. Incomplete or incorrect information may result in disqualification.
  • No accommodation will be provided by the organisers.
