About the Institution

The Deccan Education Society (DES), was founded in Pune in 1884 by visionaries and is a pioneering Indian educational trust known for providing quality education from primary to higher levels across Maharashtra, focusing on holistic development and national progress through modern and traditional ideals. Shri Navalmal Firodia Law College, Pune now entering in its 21st year, has evolved with social changes, meeting the demands of a complex global legal environment.

Established in 2004, it is a NAAC-accredited institution (B++, second cycle) and a leading center for legal education. The college offers a 5-year B.A. LL.B. and B.B.A. LL.B., a 3-year LL.B., LL.M., Ph.D., and various diploma and certificate courses, with permanent SPPU affiliations and UGC recognition. The college is supported by a well-equipped library and an active alumni network, the college fosters multidisciplinary learning through clubs focused on legal research, moot courts, internships, legal aid, and other activities.

About the Event

The Lokmanya Tilak National Appellate Moot Court Competition, an esteemed event held every year in the memory and honor of Late Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, whose enduring contributions to education and nation-building inspire our ethos, is in its 18th edition. This year’s moot problem examines a foreign investor’s attempt to exit a company, raising questions about the boundaries of shareholder agreements, FEMA regulations, and when corporate decisions may amount to oppression or mismanagement.

Over the years, it has served as a distinguished platform for young minds to refine legal reasoning and elevate oratory skills. This year, the competition promises engaging mooting and an enriching experience, scheduled for 6th and 7th February 2026 at the college campus.

Eligibility

Students pursuing the 3-year LL.B. course or the 5-year integrated law course from any recognized law school/college/university within India in the Academic Year 2025- 26 shall be eligible to participate. Only one team from one college is allowed to participate.

Venue

The competition will be held completely offline at the college campus of DES’s Shri Navalmal Firodia Law College, Gate No. 3, Fergusson College Campus, Shivajinagar, Pune – 04, Maharashtra, India.

Registration/ Submission Procedure

A separate Google Form will be shared for registration. Students must upload scanned copies of the following documents in the Google Form: Registration Form, Undertaking and Payment Receipt (NEFT).

The format of the Registration Form & Undertaking is available in the Annexure of the Rule Sheet. Hard copies of the Registration Form & Undertaking must be submitted on the day of the competition at: DES’s Shri Navalmal Firodia Law College, Gate No. 3, Fergusson College Campus, Fergusson College Road, Pune – 411004. Last date of registration is 20th January,2026

Fee details

• Winning Team: Prize money of Rs. 25,000 and certificates with a trophy
• Runners-up Team: Prize money of Rs. 15,000 and certificates with a trophy
• Best Speaker: Prize money of Rs.10,000 and a certificate with a trophy
• Best Memorial: Prize money of Rs.10,000 and certificates with a trophy
