Established in 1875, Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram (GLCT) is one of the oldest and most prestigious premier legal institutions in India. Affiliated with the University of Kerala and recognized by the Bar Council of India, the college has a storied history of over 150 years in producing eminent legal luminaries, including Supreme Court judges and international statesmen. The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college works continuously to maintain academic excellence and foster a robust research culture within the institution.

Legal Writ is the flagship peer-reviewed journal of Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram. Published under the aegis of the IQAC, it serves as an academic platform for the dissemination of original legal scholarship. The journal is registered with an International Standard Book Number (ISBN) and is committed to maintaining high standards of academic integrity and peer review.
About Call for Papers
The Editorial Team of Legal Writ is pleased to announce the call for papers for its 2026 Volume. We invite high-quality, original, and unpublished research work that contributes to the existing discourse on contemporary legal issues.
Eligibility
The call for papers is open to:
- Law students (Undergraduate and Postgraduate)
- Legal Researchers
- Academicians
- Legal Professionals
- Contributors from across the globe are encouraged to apply.
Theme
The 2026 Volume is Non-Thematic. Submissions may be made on any contemporary national or international legal topic or issue.
Submission Categories
- Long Articles: Comprehensive and in-depth analysis of a legal issue. (Maximum 3,000 words excluding footnotes).
- Short Notes: Brief insights or updates on recent legal developments.
- Case Comments: Critical analysis and critiques of recent judicial pronouncements.
- Book Reviews: Critical evaluation of a recently published book related to the field of law or legal philosophy.
Formatting Guidelines
- File Format: All manuscripts must be submitted in .doc or .docx (MS Word) format.
- Citation Style: Authors must strictly adhere to the latest Bluebook citation style for all footnotes.
- Body Text: Font: Times New Roman; Size: 12; Line Spacing: 1.5.
- Footnotes: Font: Times New Roman; Size: 10; Line Spacing: 1.0.
Submission Guidelines
- Word Limit: Manuscripts should not exceed 3,000 words (excluding footnotes).
- Abstract: Long Articles must be accompanied by an abstract of not more than 300 words and exactly 5 keywords.
- Plagiarism Policy: Every submission must be accompanied by a Turnitin Plagiarism Report (PDF). The similarity index must be strictly below 15% – 20% (excluding citations and references).
- Originality: Submissions must be original and should not have been published or be under consideration elsewhere.
Submission Deadline
- Abstract Submission Deadline: February 15, 2026
- Review Notification: Within 20 days of submission.
- Final Paper Submission: March 15, 2026
- Final Selection Notification: March 31, 2026
- Final Publication Date: July 1, 2026
