The Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy is an independent, non-partisan Indian think-tank that conducts evidence-based legal research to improve governance and draft better laws for the public good. Founded by Arghya Sengupta, it works with government bodies and courts on issues like digital regulation, criminal justice, and constitutional law.

About the Opportunity

Vidhi is looking to onboard a Research Fellow, who will work directly with Vidhi’s Founder and Research Director to support research initiatives and institutional initiatives.

Eligibility

  • Undergraduate law degree.
  • 0-2 years of demonstrable work experience in the domain of legal research, academia, or litigation.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking legal and policy research on subject-matters relevant to Vidhi’s work and the Founder’s priorities.
  • Assisting with research and background work for publications, reports, and other outputs.
  • Preparing research notes, analyses, and other materials to support internal discussions and decision-making by senior leadership.
  • Supporting the planning and execution of meetings, consultations, and convenings, including coordination, preparation of briefing materials, and follow-up on action items.
  • Assisting with fundraising efforts through background research on prospective funders, preparation of concept notes and grant materials, and related tasks.
  • Assisting with the coordination and execution of cross-organisation projects led by the Strategy Team.
  • Undertaking other tasks and responsibilities as may be required to support the work of the Strategy Team.

Salary

Remuneration will be competitive, in line with experience and existing structure at Vidhi.

Location

New Delhi.
