About the Job

PhonePe is hiring for the position of Manager, Legal. The role involves providing legal and regulatory support for the organisation’s lending business, including NBFC partnerships, digital lending operations, co-lending arrangements, and compliance management.

Eligibility

Candidates applying for the role should have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Law
• A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in an NBFC, Bank, or FinTech operating in digital lending
• Familiarity with NBFC regulatory matters and digital lending platforms

A Master’s degree in Law will be considered an additional advantage.

Key Skills and Competencies

• In-depth knowledge of RBI regulations applicable to NBFCs, including Digital Lending Guidelines, KYC norms, and Outsourcing Guidelines
• Understanding of NBFC-LSP operating models, co-lending arrangements, and digital lending ecosystems
• Experience managing internal compliance controls for NBFCs and LSPs
• Strong legal and contractual drafting and review capabilities
• Ability to work with external partners and stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Providing legal advice in drafting and reviewing policies, contracts, agreements, and lending-related documents
• Drafting and reviewing partnership agreements involving NBFCs, banks, and Lending Service Providers (LSPs)
• Monitoring and analysing regulatory developments impacting lending and digital finance operations
• Advising stakeholders on existing and emerging legal risks arising from laws and regulations
• Coordinating with partner NBFCs and banks to structure compliant lending and co-lending products
• Conducting internal diligence and risk assessments related to digital lending processes and LSP operations
• Coordinating with technology, product, and business teams to ensure regulatory compliance in customer journeys and product implementation
• Maintaining documentation, SOPs, MIS, and records required for audits and compliance reviews
