About the Job

LSEG is hiring for the position of Legal Counsel. The role involves supporting the organisation’s Data & Analytics business across the Asia Pacific region by providing strategic legal advice on corporate and commercial matters. The position requires experience in international contracting, negotiation of commercial agreements, compliance support, and coordination with internal stakeholders and external counsel.

Eligibility

• Qualified to practise in India, Singapore, Malaysia, or the UK and registered with the relevant Bar Council or equivalent regulatory body
• Law degree from an accredited tier-one law school
• Strong ability to draft and negotiate contracts in English
• Experience working on complex transactional matters and the ability to independently take ownership of matters
• Ability to think strategically, identify legal issues, and support practical resolution of the same
• Ability to handle multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organisational, articulation, and attention-to-detail skills
• Exposure to financial services and technology environments will be an advantage
• Previous managerial experience to oversee a team and lead project workstreams will be an advantage

Responsibilities

• Review, draft, revise, and negotiate a wide range of agreements in English with customers, vendors, resellers, and other third parties, including master agreements, data licences, software and intellectual property licences, consulting and services agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and other related agreements
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across functions and geographies
• Coordinate localisation and translation of standard contracts and review outsourced translations of legal documents, where required
• Share responsibility for maintaining, updating, and revising contract templates, processes, and playbooks, and support special projects where required
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laws and regulations impacting the business and support implementation of internal controls, policies, and procedures for legal compliance
• Identify, assess, and brief senior lawyers on potential and actual risks and legal exposures, and support proactive and remedial action where appropriate
• Contribute to compliance initiatives by tracking regulatory developments, advising on evolving requirements, and supporting implementation of ethics and compliance processes and training
• Coordinate legal matters handled by external counsel or managed legal service providers
• Train legal and compliance team members and/or business stakeholders
• Undertake other duties as reasonably requested by the reporting manager or director

Skills and Competencies

• Strong knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Aptitude for learning and using new software tools
• Familiarity with AI-enabled tools will be an advantage
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work independently and support geographical and global objectives effectively
• Comfortable working in a high-pressure and fast-changing environment
