About the Job
AstraZeneca is seeking a Legal & Compliance Counsel to provide legal and compliance support across a broad range of business functions. The role involves advising on legal and regulatory matters, managing compliance frameworks, supporting corporate governance, overseeing contractual arrangements, and helping the organisation navigate a highly regulated environment.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Law from a reputed university.
- 3–5 years of experience in a multicultural company.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage and prioritise time-sensitive tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice on data privacy, employment, real estate, social media, ethics, and other general legal matters.
- Monitor statutory obligations, identify compliance gaps, and drive corrective actions.
- Advise leadership on legal and regulatory developments and associated business risks.
- Manage legal disputes and support issue resolution.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and finalise commercial agreements in collaboration with Procurement and Business teams.
- Improve contract templates, reporting processes, and legal controls.
- Develop policies and legal documentation to strengthen governance and compliance frameworks.
- Design and implement compliance programmes aligned with regional and global standards.
- Deliver compliance policies, processes, training, and support across teams.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for compliance-related matters.
- Support investigations, audits, and remediation initiatives.
- Lead board and general meeting processes and ensure compliance with corporate secretarial requirements.
- Advise leadership on risk governance and strategic decisions.
- Manage legal budgets, audit requirements, reporting obligations, and legal records.
Preferred Qualifications
- Qualified Company Secretary.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other highly regulated industries.
- Expertise in data privacy, anti-bribery and anti-corruption, and competition law frameworks.
- Familiarity with contract lifecycle management tools and legal operations reporting.
- Experience supporting board governance and enterprise risk management.
Mode
Hybrid. Employees are expected to work from the office for a minimum of three days per week, while maintaining flexibility based on business and individual needs.
