About the Job

Unilever is hiring a Legal Associate for its Bengaluru Centre. The role offers an opportunity to support business teams across Europe and Greater Asia while working on commercial contracting, legal operations, governance, compliance, legal research, and stakeholder management.

The selected candidate will collaborate with lawyers from multiple jurisdictions and contribute to a broad range of legal and commercial matters within a global FMCG environment.

Eligibility

  • Professional qualification in Law.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in contract drafting, review, and negotiation.
  • Experience working in a large and complex business environment.
  • Strong contract negotiation skills from both legal and procurement perspectives.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with teams across multiple countries and time zones.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a consumer goods or retail environment.
  • Understanding of procurement processes and the legal aspects of supplier relationships.

Responsibilities

Market Legal Support

  • Support Unilever’s Europe and Greater Asia markets with legal research, analysis, and operational tasks.
  • Maintain accurate legal records and files.
  • Assist with submission of documents to relevant authorities.
  • Support contract administration and management.
  • Contribute to simplification, innovation, and technology-driven legal service delivery.
  • Engage and collaborate with lawyers across Europe and Greater Asia.

Contracting

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize contracts with third parties.
  • Negotiate the use of standard templates and third-party contractual documentation.
  • Ensure appropriate contractual safeguards and schedules are incorporated into supplier agreements.
  • Coordinate with legal teams to ensure the use of updated templates, clauses, and schedules.

Governance & Compliance

  • Review contractual deviations and identify associated risks.
  • Ensure internal contract templates remain accurate and up to date.
  • Identify opportunities to improve contract management processes and implement improvements.

Stakeholder Management

  • Develop and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with teams across Legal, Procurement, Finance, Digital Marketing, Human Resources, Data Privacy, and other business functions.
