About the Job
Unilever is hiring a Legal Associate – Trademark to join its Global Intellectual Property (IP) Legal Team at the UniOps Bangalore Centre. The role is part of Unilever’s Legal Powerhouse and supports global Trade Mark Counsels across multiple business groups.
This position focuses on trade mark portfolio management, enforcement, brand protection, and IP advisory work across international jurisdictions.

- Team: Global Unilever Intellectual Property (IP) Legal Team
Responsibilities
The Legal Associate will be responsible for:
- Conducting trade mark clearance searches, analysing availability, and advising Trade Mark Counsels
- Coordinating with external law firms for trade mark filing, prosecution, and related cost estimates
- Supporting trade mark renewals, Statements of Use, oppositions, and cancellation matters
- Monitoring trade mark watch services and identifying potential infringements
- Assisting with trade mark enforcement, anti-counterfeiting, and grey market actions
- Drafting pre-action correspondence, settlement agreements, and witness statements
- Supporting IP-related agreements, including copyright assignments
- Managing domain name portfolios and audits
- Assisting with IP integration/divestiture in M&A transactions
- Preparing authorisation letters, portfolio reports, certificates, and ad-hoc IP requests
- Maintaining the Trade Mark precedent bank and updating templates and playbooks
- Preparing presentations and training materials for business stakeholders
Eligibility
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.)
- LL.M. in Intellectual Property preferred
Experience
- 2–4 years of experience in international trade mark portfolio management
- Experience in trade mark clearance, prosecution, renewals, and enforcement matters
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of trade mark and copyright laws
- Excellent English drafting and legal advisory skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
- Effective stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to work across multiple jurisdictions, time zones, and cultures
- Process-driven mindset with focus on operational excellence
Preferred
- Experience in trade mark opposition and cancellation proceedings
- Experience drafting IP-related agreements
- Understanding of the commercial aspects of IP advisory
- Experience in a consumer goods environment
