Job Description: Associate (Secondment – Client Location)

Position: Associate – Labour, Contracts & Compliance (On Secondment)

Eligibility

Experience: 2 – 4 years

Type: Full-time, secondment from law firm with potential permanent absorption

Responsibilities

1. Labour & Employment Disputes

  • Assist in handling employment-related litigations, representing the client before labour courts, tribunals, and other forums as necessary.
  • Draft, review, and respond to legal notices, employee complaints, and pleadings.
  • Support in internal investigations and disciplinary processes involving employee misconduct or grievances.
  • Work closely with the client’s HR and management teams to align dispute management strategies.

2. Contract Review & Management

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, service agreements, employment contracts, NDAs, and consultancy contracts.
  • Support in maintaining and updating the contract repository, ensuring timely renewals, compliance, and version control.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure contracts align with the client’s legal standards and business needs.

3. Compliance & Advisory

  • Provide day-to-day legal advisory on labour laws, Shops & Establishments Act, Industrial Disputes Act, POSH Act, and related regulations.
  • Monitor and track compliance with statutory obligations and regulatory updates relevant to employment and business operations.
  • Support in internal audits, compliance reviews, and corrective actions.
  • Assist in developing and implementing the client’s internal policies related to HR, compliance, ethics, and governance.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.); LL.M. will be an advantage.
  • 2-4 years of PQE with experience in labour & employment matters, contract drafting, and compliance.
  • Strong understanding of Indian labour laws and commercial contracts.
  • Proven research, drafting, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and collaborate across functions.
  • Prior exposure to handling employee grievances, investigations, and compliance advisory is preferred.

  • Prior experience with clients in a corporate or multi-location setup.
  • Solution-oriented and pragmatic legal advisor with strong business acumen.
  • High integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality with discretion.

Engagement Terms

  • This is a secondment role where the Associate will be stationed at the client’s office in Gurugram, reporting functionally to the client’s legal & compliance team while being employed by the law firm.
  • Performance-based conversion: If the candidate performs well during secondment, the client may offer permanent absorption with an associated pay hike at the time of conversion.
