About the Job

Metalegal Advocates is hiring a Litigation Associate for its Mumbai office. The role involves handling litigation and dispute resolution matters across courts and tribunals, with a focus on tax disputes, white-collar crime litigation, and insolvency proceedings.

Litigation Associate

Eligibility

Candidates applying for the role should have:

• LL.B. degree from a reputed law school or university
• 4–5 years of post-qualification experience in litigation
• Experience in:
  • Taxation disputes
  • White-collar crime litigation
  • Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) proceedings
• Strong advocacy skills with the ability to appear independently before:
  • Trial Courts
  • High Courts
  • Tribunals such as:
    • National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT)
    • National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT)
    • Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT)
• Proven ability to manage and mentor junior advocates
• Excellent drafting, research, and analytical skills
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written)

Fluency in Hindi and Marathi will be desirable.

Responsibilities

• Representing clients before trial courts, tribunals, High Courts, and regulatory forums
• Drafting and reviewing pleadings, petitions, applications, affidavits, and written submissions
• Advising clients on:
  • Tax disputes
  • White-collar investigations and prosecutions
  • IBC matters
• Managing and mentoring a team of junior advocates
• Coordinating with external counsel and law firms
• Maintaining client communication regarding hearings and case strategy
• Ensuring compliance with procedural timelines and legal requirements
