About the Opportunity

Deccan Education Society’s Shri Navalmal Firodia Law College is organising the Late Gopal Ganesh Agarkar Smruti Karandak – 17th International Inter-Collegiate Debate Competition on September 12th and 13th, 2025. This prestigious event honours the legacy of Late Gopal Ganesh Agarkar and brings together young minds from across the globe to engage in rigorous debates and thought-provoking discussions.

Each institution may send a maximum of 3 teams (one team each for Hindi, English, and Marathi).

Theme

The competition includes debates on contemporary issues such as:

• Is India’s gig economy empowering or exploiting the youth?
• Is climate change more of a Political Problem than an Environmental one?
• Final Round: Globalisation vs. Protectionism: Is embracing free trade the only path to prosperity?

Eligibility

Undergraduate or postgraduate students from any university or stream, aged 25 or younger.

Registration Fee

₹1000 per team (2 members). The fee includes accommodation for participants from outside Pune.

Prizes

• Winner: ₹15,000
• Runner-up: ₹10,000
• Second Runner-up: ₹7,000
• Best Speaker (one from each language): ₹5,000
• Special Appreciation (one from each language): ₹3,000
