About Kautilya Society, NUSRL

The Kautilya Society is a student-led initiative established through a collaborative partnership between NUSRL Ranchi and the Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy, New Delhi. The Society seeks to bridge the divide between legal academia and real-world policy development. It provides students with opportunities to engage in research, participate in dialogue, and contribute to reform-oriented public discourse.

About Kautilya’s Take

The Kautilya Society at the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, has announced a Call for Blogs for its official policy blog, Kautilya’s Take. The platform is intended to serve as a forum for reflective and critical discourse on matters intersecting law, governance, and public policy.

Kautilya’s Take invites submissions engaging with contemporary legal and policy developments, challenging existing frameworks, and proposing grounded, research-driven solutions to modern governance challenges. The initiative is committed to encouraging analytical depth and accessibility in content, making it suitable for both academic readers and those without a formal background in law or policy.

Eligibility

• Submissions are open to students, academicians, researchers, and professionals from all fields of study.
• Co-authorship is permitted for up to two authors.

Submission Guidelines

• All submissions must be original and unpublished.
• Any form of plagiarism, including verbatim copying or inadequate referencing, shall lead to disqualification.
• Authors must attach a short bio not exceeding 150 words.
• Authors are also required to attach at least two high-quality copyright-free images relevant to the subject matter of the blog within the same document submitted for review.
• Selected blogs, upon successful completion of the review process and final approval, shall be published on the official website of the Kautilya Society under the Kautilya’s Take platform.
• Submissions must be made in .doc or .docx format only.

Word Limit and Formatting

• Submissions must be between 1,500 and 2,000 words, including footnotes.
• The manuscript must be in Times New Roman, font size 12, with 1.5 line spacing and justified alignment.

Citation Style

References must preferably be provided through hyperlinks. In cases where hyperlink references are unavailable, authors must follow the Oxford University Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA), 4th Edition, for endnotes.

Plagiarism Policy

A plagiarism threshold of 10 percent shall be permitted for commonly used terms and phrases. Any plagiarism beyond the permissible limit shall not be accepted.

Review Process

Blog submissions shall be accepted through the official Google Form. The submission portal will remain open from June 18, 2026 to August 31, 2026, and submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

All submitted blogs shall first undergo preliminary screening by the Student Review Board to assess originality, plagiarism and AI compliance, grammar, formatting, and relevance of the topic.

Upon successful completion of the initial screening, the blog shall be forwarded to the concerned Peer Review Panel (PRP) Board Member for subject-specific expert review and final recommendation regarding publication. Authors shall ordinarily receive a response regarding acceptance, revision, or publication status within 15 days from the date of submission. However, in exceptional circumstances, including a high volume of submissions or administrative delays, the review and publication process may take additional time.

• Economic Development, Poverty and Social Equity
• Media, Free Speech and Digital Regulation
• Urban Development, Smart Cities and Sustainable Infrastructure
• Globalization, International Relations and Humanitarian Concerns
• Law, Technology and Emerging Policy Challenges

The themes are directional in nature and authors are free to explore intersections between these themes and other relevant aspects of policy analysis.
