Chandhiok & Mahajan has announced openings for Associates in its Technology, Digital & AI Practice. The role offers an opportunity to advise clients on emerging issues relating to artificial intelligence, data protection, fintech, technology regulation, and digital policy within India’s evolving regulatory landscape.

Eligibility

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• 2–6 years of post-qualification experience with meaningful exposure to TMT or technology-related legal practice.
• Deep knowledge of Indian and global data privacy regimes, technology laws, AI governance frameworks, e-commerce laws, and media and telecom laws.
• Strong analytical and legal research skills with the ability to address novel legal issues.
• Sound commercial judgment and the ability to balance legal and business considerations.
• Excellent drafting skills for transactional and advisory documents.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to engage with senior leadership and regulatory authorities.
• A proactive approach towards legal and policy developments with the ability to anticipate regulatory changes.

Responsibilities

The selected candidates will:

• Advise clients on regulatory compliance relating to IT/ITeS, data privacy, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, consumer protection, digital advertising, telecom licensing, and digital media.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts and technology agreements.
• Monitor, analyse, and interpret regulatory and policy developments from authorities including MeitY, MIB, I4C, telecom authorities, and the Data Protection Board of India.
• Support policy advocacy and government affairs initiatives.
• Stay updated on domestic and global developments in AI regulation, including ethical AI frameworks, algorithmic transparency, and regulatory sandbox initiatives.
• Prepare client alerts, internal knowledge memoranda, and training materials on technology and data protection laws.
• Provide commercially practical legal advice on complex regulatory matters.
