The School of Law at the University of Mysore, in collaboration with the Institute of Legal and Policy Research (Virtual NGO), is excited to announce the International Model United Nations Conference focusing on the theme: “Impact of War on the Environment.” Scheduled for April 28, 2024, this event aims to provide a significant platform for in-depth discussions, policy analysis, and collaborative efforts aimed at finding sustainable solutions to global challenges.

Agenda

The agenda for the International Model United Nations Conference revolves around the theme of Addressing the Multifaceted Impact of War on the Environment. The conference will focus on several key areas. Firstly, delegates will discuss the importance of Prioritising Environmental Remediation in Post-Conflict Reconstruction Efforts, including initiatives for landmine clearance, remediation of contaminated sites, and reforestation projects to counter deforestation. Secondly, discussions will center on Water and Soil Remediation Measures, exploring strategies to mitigate contamination and pollution resulting from conflict activities.

Additionally, Climate-Smart Conflict Resolution will be emphasized, highlighting collaborative initiatives and community-based approaches to address resource-related conflicts exacerbated by climate variability. The conference will also delve into the Development of Climate-Resilient Infrastructure in Coastal Communities, discussing strategies to mitigate risks from sea-level rise and extreme weather events.

Finally, delegates will engage in Drafting Resolutions and Proposals aimed at addressing the environmental consequences of armed conflicts, advocating for concrete actions to prioritize environmental protection and sustainable reconstruction efforts.
