Established in 2009, Saveetha School of Law is committed to imparting quality legal education through excellence in teaching, research, and professional training. The institution encourages active participation in moot courts, client counselling, seminars, community outreach programmes, and other academic activities. About the Seminar/Conference

The conference seeks to critically engage with the evolving legal, social, and institutional frameworks affecting transgender persons in India. It aims to examine constitutional principles, judicial developments, legislative frameworks, and international human rights standards while addressing the gap between formal legal recognition and the lived realities of transgender persons. The conference also intends to promote interdisciplinary dialogue, encourage research, and foster inclusive legal reform and social sensitisation.

About Call for Papers

Original research papers are invited on the notified sub-themes as well as any topic that falls within the scope of the conference theme. The organisers welcome interdisciplinary and reform-oriented research contributing to transgender rights and inclusivity.

Eligibility

The conference is open to academicians, legal professionals, policymakers, researchers, students, healthcare professionals, civil society organisations, media practitioners, and members of the transgender community.

Submission Categories

Research papers may be submitted on themes including:

  • Gender identity, gender expression, and lived experiences
  •  Labour rights and workplace equality
  • Matrimonial, adoption, inheritance, and succession rights
  • Legal identity and documentation
  • Healthcare and insurance
  • Sports inclusion
  • Media representation and digital activism
  • Gender dysphoria
  • Reservation in education and employment
  • Societal attitudes and cultural integration
  • Mythological, historical, and religious perspectives
  • Judiciary’s approach towards non-binary genders
  • The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019
  • Comparative and international perspectives on transgender rights
  • The above themes are illustrative and not exhaustive.

Formatting Guidelines

  • Full Paper: 3,000–5,000 words (including footnotes)
  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Font Size: 12
  • Line Spacing: 1.5
  • Footnotes: Size 10, single spacing
  • Citation Style: ILI or OSCOLA (4th Edition)

Submission Guidelines

  • Abstract should not exceed 250 words.
  • Maximum two authors are permitted.
  • Abstract should contain the title of the paper and author details as footnotes.
  • Papers must be original, with less than 10% similarity and less than 5% AI-generated content, and should not be under consideration elsewhere.
