About the Opportunity

Mar Gregorios College of Law, in collaboration with the Menard Family Centre for Democracy, Miami University, and the Kerala Police Academy, invites research papers for an international conference on the theme Justice 4.0 – AI, Policing, and the Transformation of Criminal Law, scheduled for the 27th and  28th of July, 2026, at Mar Gregorios College of Law, Thiruvananthapuram.

The Conference seeks to examine the impact of Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies on criminal law, policing, judicial decision-making, and justice administration. It aims to address the legal, ethical, and constitutional concerns arising from algorithmic governance, including bias, surveillance, accountability, transparency, and protection of fundamental rights. The Conference further endeavours to foster interdisciplinary dialogue for developing balanced and human rights-oriented regulatory frameworks for the responsible integration of AI within criminal justice systems in the era of Justice 4.0.

Sub-Themes

Authors are encouraged to submit their original unpublished work on the following sub-themes:

  • AI and Algorithmic Policing
  • Digital Evidence and Criminal Adjudication
  • Cybercrime and White-Collar Crime in the Digital Economy
  • Ethics, Human Rights, and Governance of AI

Submission Guidelines

  • Abstract: 300-350 words
  • Full paper: 6000-8000 words
  • Citation Style: Bluebook 21st edition
  • Co-authorship: Maximum 2 authors
  • Format: Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.5 spacing

Mode of Presentation

The Conference shall be conducted in a hybrid format. Presenters may thus choose the mode of presentation in the registration form as per their convenience.

Awards and Publication

Selected papers will be considered for publication as a special volume in the Journal of Mar Gregorios of Law (JMGCL) ISSN 3107-9946.

A Special Award for the Best Paper Presenter will be conferred under each sub-theme of the Conference.
