The Indian Arbitration Law Review (IALR) of NLIU, Bhopal takes immense pleasure in announcing the IALR Arbitral Award Drafting and Presentation Competition, 2024, scheduled to take place from 1st-2nd February, 2025 on the campus of NLIU, Bhopal.
About NLIU, Bhopal
National Law Institute University Bhopal is a public law school and a National Law University located in Bhopal, India. Established in 1997 by the State of Madhya Pradesh, it is the second law school established under the National Law School system.
About Indian Arbitration Law Review
Since its inception in 2018, the Indian Arbitration Law Review (IALR), a student-run journal at NLIU, Bhopal, has become a prominent platform for contributions in the field of arbitration law. Published by EBC and indexed on SCC Online and HeinOnline, IALR features a range of scholarly articles, case comments, and book reviews, fostering critical discussions in the legal community.
About the Competition
The competition is a one-of-a-kind event in the country that offers a unique platform for participants to showcase their skills in drafting and presenting arbitral awards. As the first flagship event of IALR, they have proudly partnered with the esteemed Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) is the official institutional partner. The competition will be guided by SIAC’s internationally recognized arbitration standards, providing participants with valuable practical insights into award drafting in line with the renowned SIAC Rules.
Format of the Competition
This year, the competition shall be organized in two phases. The first phase will comprise of an ‘Award Submission’ and will be conducted online. The teams will be shortlisted on the basis of their written submissions for advancement to the next phase. The second phase comprises of ‘Award Presentation’ and it will be held in person at the NLIU, Bhopal campus. Shortlisted teams will participate in an elimination round, during which they will present their drafts in an oral format.

- Co-authorship (Pair): Rs. 550
- NLIU Students: Rs. 100
- Phase 2 (Offline):
- Individual Registration: Rs. 4000
- Team Registration: Rs. 7000
Timeline of the Competition
- Opening of Registrations and Release of the Competition Brochure: 10th November, 2024
- Release of the Problem Statement: 25th November, 2024
- Closing of Registration: 10th December, 2024
- Submission Deadline: 4th January, 2025
- Announcement of the Qualifying Teams: 15th January, 2025
- Offline Rounds: 1st to 2nd February, 2025
