The Legal Aid Centre established at the Faculty of Law, University of Lucknow, is pleased to organise its 3rd Article Writing Competition, 2024, under the theme of “Bridging the Justice Gap: Promoting Equal Access to Legal Rights for All.”
About the Organisation
Legal Aid Centre (LAC), established at the Faculty of Law, University of Lucknow, is inspired by the determination to promote ‘EQUAL ACCESS TO JUSTICE FOR ALL’ and seeks to promote legal literacy, provide free legal services, create socially responsible citizens, and facilitate access to justice for the marginalized and deprived classes of society. The Centre focuses on specialized programs designed to tackle specific issues faced by marginalized communities.
Abou the Competition
The 3rd Article Writing Competition 2024, organized by the Legal Aid Centre (LAC) at the Faculty of Law, University of Lucknow, is a unique initiative aimed at encouraging law students across India to reflect on the theme of “Equal Access to Justice for All”. Under the broad theme of “Bridging the Justice Gap: Promoting Equal Access to Legal Rights for All”, LAC aims to inspire thought-provoking submissions that address the systemic issues faced by marginalized groups and propose solutions to make justice accessible to all.
Eligibility
- The competition is open to all law students currently enrolled in recognized 3-year or 5-year LL.B. programs.
- Participants must be studying at any accredited institution in India
- Entries are allowed from individual participants or from teams with a maximum of two co-authors.
Theme
The Competition will be based upon the broad theme of “Bridging the Justice Gap: Promoting Equal Access to Legal Rights for All”
Participants shall submit articles revolving around current and impactful legal topics, such as:
- Barriers to Access: Exploring socio-economic, geographical, and cultural barriers that impede access to justice.
- Legal Aid and Support: The role of legal aid services in promoting equitable access to justice,
- Technology and Justice: How digital tools and platforms can enhance or hinder access to justice
- Community-Based Approaches: The role of community organizations in facilitating access to legal resources.
Important Dates
- Registration Deadline: 10th December, 2024.
- Submission Deadline: 20th December, 2024.
- Result Declaration: 15th January, 2024.

- Individuals or teams wishing to participate must fill out the online registration form provided.
- The registration deadline is 10th December 2024, and late entries will not be considered.
- A non-refundable registration fee of Rs. 199 for single-authored submissions and Rs. 299 for co-authored submissions must be paid online before submitting the form.
Submission Guidelines
- Single-authored and co-authored submissions (Maximum of 2 authors allowed)
- Word limit- 1,500 and 3,000 words (excluding footnotes and bibliography)
- Font- Times New Roman, Font Size for Main text: 12 & Footnotes: 10
- Line Spacing- Main text- 1.5, Footnotes: 1.0
- Margin- 1 inch of A4 Size Page
- Citation Pattern: Harvard Bluebook (20th edition) style.
- Strict Plagiarism limit of 10%
Awards
- The article of the winner will be published in the International Journal of Law Research, Education and Social Sciences. (Subject to review)
- The article of the runner-up will be published in the Journal of Legal Research and Juridical Sciences. (Subject to review)
- The winner shall be awarded with a cash prize of INR 1,500.
- The runner-up shall be awarded with a cash prize of INR 1,000.
- The top five articles will be awarded a Certificate of Merit.
- The top five participants will get an internship opportunity at the jus corpus.
- All participants shall be awarded with an ‘e-Certificate of Participation.’
