Hindi Debate Competition| By Lucknow University (Prizes Worth Rs 2.1k!): Register by Sept 12


The Faculty of Law, University of Lucknow has been pioneer legal institution of India. The Law Faculty was separated from main Campus and shifted to the new Campus on the Sitapur Road, Lucknow from 2002-03.

Since the inception of human civilization, we have found various methods to communicate our thoughts, where language has played a crucial role in unifying civilizations. In order to understand the rich culture of a nation one needs to understand its ancient texts by the way of its native language. On the auspicious occasion of Hindi Diwas on 14th September, Lucknow University Moot Court Association through 2nd Atal Bihari Vajpayee National Hindi Debate Competition aims to elucidate the significance of Hindi language not only in India but also in the world. Through this endeavor we strive to seek answers to the question whether or not Hindi language has lost it’s charm to English in the recent wake of the L.P.G.- Liberalisation, Privatisation and Globalisation

Rules in General

• The competition is open to all the Undergraduate students of any UGC recognized University/Institution.

• The participation Fee for the competition will be Rs 80 per Team. The Fee is non-refundable.

• There will be a limit of only 30 Teams on the basis of first come first serve basis.

• The last date of Registration is 12th September, 2020 and the Date of Competition is 14th September, 2020.

• The participants are required to fill the Google form.

Rules of the Debate

• The topic for the debate is- “क्या भारतीयों का अंग्रेजी प्रेम भारत के लिए अलभशाप है?”

• The competition will be virtual and will be conducted via Zoom app.

• The debate shall be only in Hindi.

• The speakers shall not disclose their identities and shall only represent themselves by the team codes allotted to them.

• In each Team, one speaker shall speak in the favour of the motion and the other shall speak against the motion.

• Each Speaker will be allotted 2 minutes 30 seconds to speak. Total Time for each Team shall be 5 minutes per Team, exceeding the time limit will lead to negative marking.

• The Dress Code for the activity is Western or Indian formals.

• The participants are required to keep the video on during the competition.

• After the speech is made, the particular speaker shall be open to the floor for rebuttal. Only a participant from another team can ask a rebuttal.

• The answer to the rebuttal shall not exceed 1 minute.

• Only two Rebuttal will be permitted per participant.

• No speaker shall be allowed to read any piece of paper, violation of which shall result in disqualification.

• Decision of the Jury shall be final and binding.

• Violation of any rule may cause disqualification of the whole team with the discretion of the jury


Winner team – Rs.1200 + Certificate of Appreciation

Runners Up team – Rs.600 + Certificate of Appreciation

Best speaker – Rs.300 + Certificate of Appreciation

Participation Certificate will be awarded to all the participants.


• The committee will not be responsible for any technical failure on the end of the participant, so all the participants are requested to arrange a stable internet connection.

• If Somehow because of bad connectivity from your end, you miss your chance of delivering Speech, the discretion of giving another chance will be on the Judge or the Organizing Committee.

• At any point of conflict, the decision of Faculty of Law, University of Lucknow, will be final and participants have to follow the same.

• Faculty of Law, University of Lucknow reserves the right to alter or change the rules or procedures of the competition.

• Details and information concerning the speech competition will be shared through Email and WhatsApp by the organizing committee.


• The payment can be made through BHIM UPI & GOOGLE PAY & PAYTM & PHONEPE.

• The participation Fee for the competition will be Rs 80 per Team. The Fee is non-refundable.

• Before making the payment first open the Google form and check whether the form is open or closed. If the Form is closed for Registration then it means the registration for event are closed.
