About GLC-SPIL International Law Journal
The GLC-SPIL International Law Journal isthe flagship publication of Students for thePromotion of International Law (SPIL),Mumbai, and is a bi-annual, double-blindpeerreviewed journal published by thestudents of Government Law College,Mumbai. Startingfrom the academic year2025–26, the Journal will be published intwo issues annually.
The first issue willwelcome submissions on any topic under thebroad umbrella of internationallaw,allowing contributors the freedom to explorediverse areas in both public andprivateinternational law. The second issue will bealigned with the theme of the annualGovernment Law College International LawSummit, and will serve as a platform fordeeper engagement with the Summit’scentral theme.
About the Opportunity
The GLC-SPIL International Law Journal (ILJ) (“Journal”) is a bi-annual double-blind peerreviewed journal of Students for the Promotion of International Law (SPIL), Mumbai, astudent-run organisation based in Government Law College, Mumbai (GLC).We invitesubmissions from law students, academicians, researchers, and legal professionalsglobally, providing an esteemed platform to contribute original, thought-provoking insightsinto international law. The last day to submit for Vol. VI(I) is 15th September 2025, 11:59PM, IST.
Theme
The theme for Volume VI, Issue I of theGLC-SPIL International Law Journal isgeneral and submissions are invited on anytopic under the broad umbrella ofinternational law.
Submission Categories
- Long Articles: Word Limit – 6000 to10000 words, exclusive of footnotesand bibliography. In-depth analysis ofissues in public and privateinternational law, comparativeinternational legal regimes, ortheoretical frameworks.
- Short Articles or Essays: Word Limit –4000 to 6000 words, exclusive offootnotes andbibliography. Conciseanalytical pieces on emerging trends ininternational law, or underexploredthemes in international law.
- Case Comments and/or LegislativeNotes: Word Limit – 2000 to 3000words, exclusive of footnotes andbibliography. Critical evaluations ofrecent or landmark judgments byinternational courts and tribunals, andanalytical perspectives on internationallegal developments in national policiesor legislations, especially thoseaffecting treaty implementation.
- Treaty and Instrument Analyses: WordLimit – 2000 to 3000 words, exclusiveof footnotes and bibliography.Contemporary examination ofinternational treaties, conventions,and customary international lawinstruments, including drafting historyand interpretative concerns.
- Book Reviews: Word Limit – 2000 to3000 words, exclusive of footnotes andbibliography. Analytical reviews ofrecent publications relevant tointernational law, including recentacademic texts, commentaries, andpractitioner handbooks.
Formatting Guidelines
The body of the manuscript must bein Times New Roman, font size 12,with 1.5 line spacing. The footnotesmust be in Times New Roman, fontsize 10, with single line spacing. Allmargins should be set to 1 inch or 2.54cm on all sides.
The manuscript should contain onlyfootnotes (strictly no end notes) as amethod of citation and must conformto the Harvard Bluebook 21st Edition.
To maintain uniformity in all thearticles, the Authors are required toadhere to the GLC-SPIL ILJ StyleGuide while making their submissions,which can be accessed by clicking HERE.
