About the CUSAT
The School of Legal Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Cochin, Kerala. School of Legal School, CUSAT is one of the oldest Law Schools in India. The Law School was initially started as the Post Graduate Department of Law of the University of Kerala in the year 1962 under the leadership and guidance of the late Prof. (Dr.) A.T.Markose, an internationally acclaimed jurist and academician. The School of Legal Studies became part of Cochin University in the year 1971.
About the Course-Workshop
Third World Network (TWN) and Inter-University Centre for Intellectual Property Rights Studies (IUCIPRS), Cochin University of Science & Technology (CUSAT) are organizing a 5-week online course/workshop on Access to medicines, TRIPS, and Patents from March 10, 2022.

- Sessions: 2 contact sessions every week
- Total Duration: 5 weeks
- Class Timings: Classes every Thursday and Friday from 6 PM to 8:30 PM IST
- Fee: Free/no fee
About the course
- This course is expected to deepen the understanding of the intricate linkage between access to medicines and the barriers presented by intellectual property legal and policy frameworks.
- It will also help increase the knowledge on the use of flexibilities provided by international trade agreements such as the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) to improve access to medicines at the domestic level.
- The course also aims to equip the participants to make law and policy interventions.
