Week 1: Data Protection Law – Foundations and Compliance Application

• Session 2: GDPR Seven Principles: Lawfulness, fairness, and transparency Purpose limitation and data minimisation Accuracy, storage limitation, integrity & confidentiality (security), and accountability

Week 2: Rights and the Indian Privacy Landscape

• Session 3: GDPR Data Subject Rights: Right to access, rectification, and erasure Restriction of processing, data portability, and objection Protections against automated decision-making & profiling
• Session 4: DPDPA 2023- Complete Structure & Core Concepts Scope: Digital personal data, definitions, and applicability Key actors: Data Principal, Data Fiduciary, Data Processor, Significant Data Fiduciary (SDF) Consent framework: Free, specific, informed consent, notice requirements, and withdrawal mechanisms

Week 3: Obligations and Comparative Analysis

Session 5:  DPDPA Rights & Obligations

• Data Principal rights: Access to information, correction, erasure, and grievance redressal. Fiduciary duties: Reasonable security safeguards, personal data breach notification, and data retention.
• Role of Consent Managers and grievance mechanisms.

Session 6: Cross-Regime Comparison – GDPR vs. DPDPA

• Alignment and key divergences in principles. International transfers: GDPR Standard
• Contractual Clauses / adequacy vs. DPDPA’s restricted countries approach.
• Enforcement mechanisms: Supervisory authorities, fines, and penalties.

Week 4: Execution and Risk Management

• Session 7: Practical Compliance Toolkit: Records of Processing Activities (RoPA) under GDPR Privacy notices, policies, and consent records review Gap analysis & compliance audit checklist exercise.
• Session 8: Risk Management & Implementation Essentials: Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) methodology and triggers (GDPR) Breach response protocols and notification timelines Vendor agreements: Data Processing Agreements (DPAs), governance templates, and best practices
