About the Job

Amazon’s Legal Department is seeking a Corporate Counsel to support its rapidly growing marketplace business in India.

Position: Corporate Counsel, Seller Services – Marketplace
Experience Required: 8–14 years PQE
Reporting To: Director Legal
Travel: Some domestic and international travel may be required

This is an individual contributor role involving close collaboration with business and legal teams.

Eligibility

• LL.B in India or equivalent law degree in another common law jurisdiction
• 8–14 years of post-qualification experience
• Experience in oral and written communication in English
• Experience working independently with legal and business partners
• Competence in a broad range of corporate, legal compliance, and business laws
• Demonstrated ability to analyze business processes/products and structure practical solutions
• Excellent legal and business judgment
• Strong interpersonal and coordination skills

In-house experience at a technology or e-commerce company is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience combining corporate law firm and in-house roles
• Experience advising multinational companies operating at scale
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Experience navigating complex regulatory environments and providing strategic legal counsel in fast-paced settings

Responsibilities

• Advise seller services, brand relations, marketplace trust, and product tech teams on legal matters relating to foreign direct investment, competition, consumer protection, privacy, information technology, and intellectual property laws
• Provide day-to-day corporate and business law counseling
• Conduct legal review and structuring of business programs and products
• Advise on procedural and compliance matters
• Resolve issues arising in commercial relationships and pre-litigation disputes
• Structure, draft, and negotiate routine as well as complex, high-value contracts
• Support development and launch of key seller and brand programs for the Amazon.in marketplace
• Coordinate with global legal teams and external counsel
• Liaise with tax, litigation, finance, public relations, and public policy teams
