About the Job
MSCI is hiring a Commercial Contracts Legal Counsel as part of its AI Contract Team. The role involves working with Commercial Legal teams across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC to negotiate technology and data agreements and support the integration of AI tools into the team’s work.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate complex technology and data agreements, including data licences, Software-as-a-Service arrangements, financial product licences, managed services agreements, and redistribution arrangements, primarily under New York law.
- Develop an understanding of MSCI’s AI capabilities, contracts, product offerings, risk tolerances, policies, and practices.
- Design and implement new contract templates and provisions for new product offerings.
- Use and contribute to the development of MSCI’s AI systems as part of legal work.
- Work on other legal projects, teams, and assignments as required.
Eligibility
- Law degree and licence to practise.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in-house or at a premier law firm.
- Experience negotiating complex technology and IP transactions.
- Ability to negotiate a high volume of complex agreements carefully and efficiently.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deals and projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive approach and willingness to quickly learn the business and new areas.
- Strong drafting, listening, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Self-directed adoption of new technology and tools.
- Programming experience is not required.
- Experience in the financial services industry, advising on IP matters, and/or working on M&A deals will be helpful.
