About the Opportunity

The Central Law College National Moot Court Competition 2026 aims to provide law students with a national platform to develop their legal research, memorial drafting, analytical reasoning and oral advocacy skills through a competitive courtroom experience. The competition will comprise a Researcher’s Test, Preliminary Rounds, Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final Round.

Theme

The moot proposition deals with constitutional and criminal-law questions concerning physician-administered active euthanasia, including the right to die with dignity, Articles 14 and 21 of the Constitution, the distinction between withdrawal/withholding of life-sustaining treatment and intentional administration of a lethal substance, and the applicability of relevant provisions and exceptions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The proposition is a fictional academic problem prepared solely for the purposes of the competition.

Eligibility

The competition is open to bona fide students enrolled in an undergraduate law course from any recognised College, Institution or University. Each institution may send one or more teams.

  • Three-member team: Two Speakers and One Researcher.
  • Two-member team: Both designated as Speakers, with one also designated as Researcher.
  • An additional team member or team coach is not permitted.

Registration Fee

  • Regular Registration Fee: ₹2,500/- per team, inclusive of GST
  • Early Bird Fee: ₹2,200/- per team, inclusive of GST, till 5th September 2026
  • Last Date for Registration: 25th September 2026, 23:59:59 IST

The registration fee is non-refundable in case of non-participation after registration.

  • Winning Team: ₹25,000 + Trophy + Medal + Certificate
  • Runners-Up: ₹15,000 + Trophy + Medal + Certificate
  • Best Speaker: ₹3,000 + Trophy + Medal + Certificate
  • Best Memorial: ₹3,000 + Trophy + Medal + Certificate
  • Best Researcher: ₹3,000 + Trophy + Medal + Certificate

Medals will also be awarded to Winners, Runners-Up and Semi-Finalists. Certificates of participation will be provided to all participants.

  • 23 September 2026: Last date to seek clarifications
  • 25 September 2026: Last date of registration
  • 4 October 2026: Softcopy memorial submission
  • 7 October 2026: Hardcopy memorial submission
  • 9 October 2026: Registration, Researcher’s Test and Preliminary Round
  • 10 October 2026: Draw of Lots and Quarter-Final Rounds
  • 11 October 2026: Semi-Final, Final and Valedictory Ceremony

The competition will be conducted offline. Accommodation will not be provided by the college; however, the Moot Court Committee will provide guidance regarding accommodation arrangements. Breakfast, lunch and high tea will be provided during the competition days.
