CAT Eligibility Criteria 2026
- Educational Qualifications: Must have a Bachelor’s Degree (Any Stream)
- Minimum Marks Required: General & NC-OBC:- Minimum 50% or equivalent CGPA. SC, ST, PWD/DA:- 45% marks or equivalent CGPA.
- Eligibility for Final Year Students: Final year students can apply for CAT. However, you will be required to submit proof of degree completion before admission.
- Age Limit: There is No Age restriction in the CAT exam.
How to Register for CAT 2026? Step-By-Step Guide
CAT 2026 registration process will be fully online and will be available at the official website iimcat.ac.in. Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Sign up for an account. Visit the website and click “New Candidate Registration”. Provide basic details like name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID, and nationality. Check mail and set password.
Step 2: Fill in the Application form. Fill in the personal information, education, academic qualification, and work experience.
Step 3: Upload the documents. Upload a scanned photo and signature in the required format and size. Upload relevant category/PwD certificates in the prescribed formats. Avoid rejection by using clear, legible scans.
Step 4: Choose exam city. Choose your favourite exam cities (you can choose more than one). Availability drives allocation, so keep some realistic close options in addition.
Step 5: Select programs. Choose the IIM programs you want to apply for. Read each program’s eligibility carefully so that your choices are aligned with your profile.
Step 6: Review and checkout. Verify all the fields through the preview – name, marks, categories, cities, and uploads. Correct errors now; some fields may be locked after payment.
Pay securely via Card / Net Banking / UPI for General 2500 to 2600 INR for general category and 1250 to 1300 INR for Reserved category candidates. Do not refresh the page during the transaction; wait for the success confirmation.
Step 7: Verify download. On successful payment, download the application PDF and the fee receipt, and finally submit. Save them for later.

Know the CAT 2026 Exam Pattern (Updated)
CAT 2026 will be divided into three sections:
- VARC (Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension)
- DILR (Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning)
- QA (Quantitative Aptitude)
