Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, was established by the Government of Maharashtra by way of an enactment known as the Maharashtra National Law University Act (Maharashtra Act No. VI of 2014). The University is the nineteenth National Law University in India. The University is a residential University engaged into promoting quality legal education and conducting cutting-edge research on thriving issues of law, social science and humanities. The University is presently offering B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) Five-Year Integrated Degree Course; LL.M. One-Year Postgraduate Degree Course; Ph.D. interface with law.

About the DPIIT IPR Chair

The Scheme for Pedagogy & Research in IPRs for Holistic Education & Academia (SPRIHA) was launched in the year 2016 by the Department for Promotion of Industries and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. The IPR Chair was established under the scheme at selected Universities in India and MNLU, Nagpur takes pride in being one for them. The chair was established to fulfil one of the objectives of the National IPR Policy of the Government of India which was to ‘Strengthen IP Chairs in educational institutes of higher learning to provide quality teaching and research, develop teaching capacity and curricula and evaluate their work on performance based criteria’.

Application Process

The applicants must communicate their interest for internship via email to – [email protected] along with their CV. The subject of the email must be ‘Internship with IPR Chair’. 

Along with the CV, the applicant must also submit a statement of purpose (of not more than 500 words) explaining their interest in interning with the Chair.

Who Can Apply?

The internship is open to students enrolled in 3rd, 4th and 5th year undergraduate and postgraduate program in law from a recognized University.

Duration

  • One Month
  • Please note that the internship is only available for the month of December and January.

Work Structure

Once the applicant is selected, the intern would be asked to undertake tasks that shall involve assisting in research on topics related to Intellectual Property Rights Laws. The interns are expected to facilitate and coordinate the programs conducted by the IPR Chair.

Interns may be asked to share the research work assigned to them in the form of papers, presentations or reports. The internship shall be online and the interns will have to work from home.

Confidentiality and IPR

The Centre reserves all rights and title over the research done by the interns during the internship period and the research work cannot be otherwise used by the interns without prior written approval of the Centre. Any breach of this may invite legal consequences.

Perks

Interns must submit a final report to the Supervisor at the end of the internship period containing the work done by the intern during the internship period for the processing of the Certificate.

Please Note:

  1. The IPR Chair, MNLU Nagpur does not provide any stipend to the interns.
  2. Interns must Send their University cards/ID before the date of joining.
  3. The confirmation of the internship will be communicated to the applicant within 07 days from the submission of the application. If no correspondence is made from the Centre within the aforementioned period, kindly assume that the application has not been considered.
