About the Job

AALCO is inviting applications for the positions of Assistant Legal Officer and Legal Officer at its Secretariat in New Delhi.

The selected candidates will work on matters relating to public international law, including state practice, legal research, dispute settlement, treaty law, and international trade law.

Eligibility

An advanced university degree (Master’s degree/equivalent or higher) in international law or related fields is required. Specialization in any field of public international law is a privilege. Academic publications including books and articles on international law issues related to Asia and Africa are a value.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and analyse developments in the field of public international law related to AALCO’s work and agenda
  • Conduct extensive legal research and prepare legal opinions, studies, briefs, reports, publications, and correspondence
  • Provide legal opinions on substantive and procedural issues
  • Work on areas including:
    • Law of international organizations
    • Law of dispute settlement
    • Law of treaties
    • International trade law
  • Assist in organizing diplomatic conferences, working groups, expert groups, and training programmes
  • Prepare background materials, summaries, and meeting reports
  • Assist in programme activities and project management relating to legal matters
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
