About the Job

GSK is hiring an Assistant Legal Counsel in India to support global contracting and legal operations.

The role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements, managing legal and contractual processes, supporting dispute matters, and providing practical legal advice to internal stakeholders.

Eligibility

Applicants should have:

  • A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or equivalent degree.
  • Admission to practise as an advocate, where applicable.
  • 4–6 years of relevant experience in a law firm or in-house legal role.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and service agreements.
  • Practical knowledge of contract lifecycle management tools or willingness to learn.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours occasionally to support global stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, service agreements, amendments, and related documents.
  • Support agreement lifecycle management using contract systems and established processes.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and external counsel to provide timely legal advice.
  • Monitor legal spend and support alternative fee arrangements and billing guidelines.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external counsel on litigation and dispute matters.
  • Recommend process improvements and contribute to templates, playbooks, and training materials.

Preferred Qualifications

The following will be considered an advantage:

  • Experience with technology, IT, or digital services contracts, including Software as a Service (SaaS).
  • Familiarity with alternative fee arrangements, budgeting, and legal spend controls.
  • Experience supporting cross-border or multi-jurisdictional contracts.
  • Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or other regulated industries.
  • Exposure to litigation support, investigations, or dispute resolution.
  • Understanding of privacy and data protection laws relevant to commercial agreements.
