MNLU Mumbai established under the Maharashtra National Law University Act 2014 on 20th March 2014, is one of the premier National Law Universities in India. The Act envisaged establishing National Law University in Maharashtra to impart advanced legal education and promote society-oriented research in legal studies for the advancement of social life of the people in the country.

Under the patronage of Hon’ble Dr. Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, Supreme Court of India and the Chancellor, MNLU Mumbai, and Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Ukey, Vice Chancellor, MNLU Mumbai, the University has established CWCRGJ, inaugurated by Hon’ble Member of Parliament Mrs. Supriya Sule on 8th March 2021 to contribute proactively towards the advocacy of rights of women, children, and the LGBTQIA+ community in national and international spheres.

About the Colloquium

The discussion of same-sex marriage brings to light the long-standing debate between the philosophy of Originalism and the Living Organism perspective in interpreting the Constitution. It is further of great relevance to analyze specifically how same-sex marriages could be included within the confines of our Constitution.

Topic

The topic of same-sex marriage exposes generations of hidden discrimination and ostracizing of certain people.

It is necessary to discuss this once-considered ‘taboo’ topic to clarify prejudices, cease the spread of misinformation, and ensure that justice prevails. The ultimate objective of this colloquium is to create an atmosphere of understanding and critical analysis, which would be imperative in creating apt policy.

Eligiblity

Every student of the B.A., L.L.B.(Hons.), L.L.M or practitioners in the field of law wishing to attend the colloquium has to register using the given form.

Last Date to Apply

The last day to register for the course is 15th March 2023 at 11:59 pm.

Registration Fee

The registration fee is Rs. 1000/-.

No registrations beyond the following deadline will be entertained. Certificate will also be provided to the participants.
