About the Organiser

SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), established in 1981, is a reputed Deemed-to-be University known for academic excellence and interdisciplinary education. The School of Law, NMIMS Indore, established in 2019, focuses on experiential legal learning through mooting, advocacy training, research initiatives, and national-level competitions.

The Moot Court and Trial Advocacy Society (MCTAS) serves as the flagship student body dedicated to promoting advocacy skills, legal research, and courtroom practice by bridging the gap between theoretical learning and practical legal training.

About the Moot

The Moot Court and Trial Advocacy Society proudly presents the 4th NMIMS Indore Moot Court Competition, 2026, a national-level platform aimed at fostering legal reasoning, research excellence, and oral advocacy among law students across India.

The competition will be conducted in a hybrid format, featuring online preliminary rounds followed by advanced offline rounds at the NMIMS Indore campus, offering participants both accessibility and a realistic courtroom experience.

Theme

The moot proposition focuses on interdisciplinary legal issues involving:

  • Maintainability of writ petitions under Article 226
  • Environmental protection and eco-sensitive zones
  • Property and constitutional rights
  • Regulatory compliance under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016
  • Arbitrary state action and urban development regulation

Eligibility

  • Students enrolled in three-year or five-year LL.B. programmes from any recognised University/Law School/Institution are eligible.
  • Each team shall consist of three members:
    • Two Speakers
    • One Researcher
  • Teams of two members may be permitted only with prior approval of the Organising Committee.

SVKM’s NMIMS School of Law, Indore Campus

(Offline rounds including Quarter-finals, Semi-finals, and Final Rounds)

Fee Details

  • ₹3,500 per team (Preliminary Rounds).
  • Teams qualifying for offline rounds shall pay an additional ₹3,500, inclusive of food and mandatory accommodation during the competition.

Awards and Accolades

  • Winning Team: ₹25,000 + Internship opportunity with HSA Advocates
  • First Runners-Up: ₹15,000 + Internship opportunity
  • Second Runners-Up: ₹10,000

Special Awards

  • Best Speaker – ₹3,000 + Internship opportunity
  • Best Researcher – ₹3,000 + Internship opportunity
  • Best Memorial – ₹3,000 + Internship opportunity with Khurana & Khurana Advocates and IP Attorneys

(Internships subject to discretion of respective organisations.)

  • Memorial Submission (Soft Copy): 30 March 2026
  • Draw of Lots, Memorial Exchange & Researcher’s Test: 2 April 2026
  • Online Preliminary Rounds: 2–3 April 2026
  • Inaugural Ceremony & Offline Rounds Begin: 16 April 2026
  • Quarter-finals & Semi-finals: 17 April 2026
  • Final Round & Valedictory Ceremony: 18 April 2026

  • Upon successful registration, teams will receive a confirmation email from the Organising Committee.
