SGT University, Gurugram, Haryana, is a nationally renowned institution accredited with an A+ grade by NAAC, renowned for excellence in medical, health sciences, and legal education. The Faculty of Law, established in 2014 with Bar Council of India and Government of Haryana recognition, provides high-quality professional legal education, equipping students for national and international practice through UG, PG, Ph.D., diploma, and certification courses, grounded in core values of dedication, honesty, integrity, and respect.
The Ranka Public Charitable Trust, founded in 1980 by late Dr. N.M. Ranka, promotes public welfare, Gandhian philosophy, education for underprivileged students, tax awareness, and legal initiatives, including moot courts and trial advocacy competitions in collaboration with universities like SGT University.
About the Opportunity
The 3rd Edition of the International Trial Advocacy Competition, organized by the Faculty of Law at SGT University in collaboration with the Ranka Charitable Trust, is a prestigious offline event (all rounds conducted in offline mode at the SGT University Campus, Gurugram) aimed at developing trial advocacy skills through mock criminal court simulations. It serves as clinical legal education, condensing real trial procedures into a short format to train participants in essential litigator skills, including opening/closing statements, witness examination, and integrated advocacy strategies.
The competition features four rounds (Preliminary, Advocate-cum-Researcher’s Test, Quarter Finals, Semi-Finals, and Final), with dignitaries from previous editions including Supreme Court and High Court judges, and includes a Gala Night.
Theme
The competition focuses on trial advocacy in criminal law proceedings, emphasizing practical skills in mock trials that simulate real courtroom scenarios, including witness examination, argument delivery, and procedural adherence.
Eligibility
Participation is for bona fide law students pursuing the three years or five years LL.B. degree course in any institution in India and law students pursuing undergraduate programs in law from recognized insitutuion internationally Each participating team should have three members. In a team, two members shall be designated as ‘Speakers’ and the third member shall be designated as ‘Researcher’.
Registration Fee
₹5,000 per team (with accommodation, including lodging and food as per the schedule)
₹3,000 per team (without accommodation)
The registration fee is non-refundable.

- Winner: ₹1,00,000 + Trophy + Certificate
- Runner Up: ₹50,000 + Trophy + Certificate
- Best Witness: ₹10,000 + Trophy + Certificate
- Best Memorial: ₹10,000 + Trophy + Certificate
- Best Researcher: ₹10,000 + Trophy + Certificate
- Best Advocate: ₹10,000 + Trophy + Certificate
