The Kerala Law Academy (KLA), established in 1966 is a Centre of excellence for legal studies, research, and law reforms. KLA’s acclaimed peer-reviewed/refereed research journal “Academy Law Review” has been published continuously since 1977. 

About the Event

Kerala Law Academy Law College is organising 35th KLA Moot Court Competition, 2026.

Date and Venue

The prestigious 35TH Kerala Law Academy Moot Court Competition for the KLA Trophy, hosted by the Kerala Law Academy Moot Court Society will be held at the Kerala Law Academy Campus, Peroorkada, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala from 11th to 14th February 2026.

Team Composition

  • The Competition is open to all Law Colleges / Law Schools and Faculties / Universities; Departments of Law in India (hereafter “participating institutions”) recognized by the Bar Council of India. The participation is limited to LL.B. students both in the Three-year Scheme and Five-Year Scheme. 
  • Students doing post-graduation in law and students undergoing correspondence courses are not eligible to participate in the Competition. 
  • More than one team from each participating institution may be registered for the competition, provided that they have obtained consent from their specified College/Institution. Each team shall comprise of three members (two speakers and one researcher).  

Awards

  • The Winner – will be awarded the KLA Trophy, certificates and a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000/- (One Lakh Only)
  • The Runners-up – will be awarded a trophy, certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 (Fifty Thousand Only).
  • Best Student Advocate – Will be awarded with a trophy and certificate of Merit
  • Best Second-Best Student Advocate – Will be awarded with a trophy and certificate of Merit
  • Best Lady Advocate – Will be awarded with a trophy and certificate of Merit
  • Second Best Lady Advocate – Will be awarded with a trophy and certificate of Merit
  • Best Memorial – Will be awarded with a trophy and certificate of Merit
  • Second Best Memorial – Will be awarded with a trophy and certificate of Merit
  • Best Researcher – Will be awarded with a trophy and certificate of Merit

Miscellaneous

  • Secrecy of Identity: During the course of the Oral Submissions, the speaker shall neither reveal his/her identity nor the identity of their College/University by any means whatsoever. Such actions on part of any member of the team will lead to disqualification of the team from the competition.   
  • Scouting: Scouting is strictly prohibited. Teams found scouting will be disqualified immediately. 
  • Be respectful: Participants should behave respectfully towards the other participants and the organizers. Failure of the same will lead to disqualification.  

Registration Fees

Per Team, Rs.6000/- (Without Accommodation) or RS. 7500/- (With Accommodation). The Team Codes shall be allotted within 2 days of Final Registration.

Registration Process

All the interested teams for the competition are requested to duly send an email to [email protected] on or before December 20, 2025, for provisional registration, confirming their slot.  

And final registration on or before January 5th 2026 by submitting the duly filled Proforma provided below.
