About the NUALS Mediation Competition

The second edition of the NUALS Mediation Competition (NMC), organised by the NUALS ADR Society is a testament to the rising prominence of mediation as a preferred ADR mechanism catering to the diverse needs of disputing parties. The competition will feature virtual preliminary rounds on January 18, 2026, followed by in-person advanced rounds on February 15, 2026.

The NMC serves as a premier platform for aspiring legal professionals to engage with the dynamic field of ADR. Bridging the gap between theory and practice, the competition equips participants with essential skills in mediation and negotiation. By simulating real-world scenarios, it encourages students to develop critical abilities such as problem-solving, effective communication, and creative conflict resolution strategies.

Key Dates

• Commencement of Provisional Registration – 5th December, 2025
• Last Date for Provisional Registration – 21st December, 2025
• Final Registration Deadline – 2nd January, 2026
• Preliminary & Quarterfinal Rounds – 18th January, 2026
• Advanced Rounds – 15th February, 2026

Awards & Prizes

The NMC proudly presents an enticing prize pool of ₹55,000, along with exciting internship opportunities to be announced soon.

• Winner – Negotiating Team – ₹25,000 + Trophy + Certificate of Merit
• Runners-up – Negotiating Team – ₹15,000 + Trophy + Certificate of Merit
• Winner – Mediator – ₹10,000 + Trophy + Certificate of Merit
• Runners-up – Mediator – ₹5,000 + Trophy + Certificate of Merit

Eligibility

Only bona-fide students pursuing their 3-year LLB or 5-year LLB program from Law Colleges/Universities recognised by the Bar Council of India are eligible to register for the event. Any Participating Team in the Competition shall comprise 3 members namely, the Client, the Counsel & the Mediator. Cross-institutional teams are eligible to register for the event, provided the Negotiating Team consists of participants from the same Law College/University.

Final Registration Fee: Rs. 4500 per team
