About the Competition

Conducted under the aegis of the Securities Law Review of NUALS, the 1st NUALS Securities Law Essay Writing Competition 2026 provides a platform for students across India to engage with cutting-edge regulatory and market developments in securities law.

The competition seeks to promote high-quality academic writing, strengthen scholarly discourse in corporate and financial regulation, and identify promising young scholars whose work can contribute to policy and doctrinal debates. This inter-university competition aims to foster rigorous academic engagement with contemporary issues in securities and financial markets regulation.

Theme

The following themes are merely indicative areas of consideration for submissions. The authors are free to delve into any subject matter of contemporary relevance under the following themes of Securities Law:

  1. Strengthening insider trading regulations and the role of unpublished price-sensitive information;
  2. ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) disclosure requirements: legal, corporate, and investor perspectives;
  3. Impact and regulation of Artificial Intelligence in the securities market;
  4. Impact of recent amendments on public issues, ESOPs, and founder incentives; OR
  5. SEBI’s proposals to ease lock-in norms for pre-IPO investors.

Eligibility

Students and research scholars enrolled in any undergraduate, postgraduate, or Ph.D. course from recognized Indian universities are eligible to participate.

Co-authorship: Co-authored submissions are permitted, with a maximum of two authors per entry.

Important Dates

  • Deadline for Submission: March 15, 2026 at 11:59 P.M.
  • Announcement of Results: April 15, 2026

Registration Fee

  • Single author: Rs. 250/- only.
  • Co-authorship: Rs. 400/- only.

Prizes

  • 1st prize: ₹10,000
  • 2nd prize: ₹5,000
  • 3rd prize: ₹ 2,500

Note: The top entries may be shortlisted for publication in the Securities Law Review, NUALS depending on the number and quality of submissions received, with editorial discretion resting with the Board and Faculty Editors.

  • Word Limit: 1500-3500 words (excluding footnotes).
  • Footnotes: Times New Toman, 10 pt., single spacing.
  • Citation Style: Bluebook (21st Edition).
